Setting up MS Outlook (or Express) to check your MartNet Mail

Note: These instructions were originally written for MS Outlook (full version) for Windows 95. Menu names and locations of menu options vary slightly depending on which version of Outlook you are using (Outlook or Outlook Express, Windows 95, 98, and NT versions. Thank Microsoft for being inconsistent with their interface design...) The following instructions can be used as a guide to configure any version of Outlook.

These steps assume you already have a connection to MartNet, and that it is your default connection to the Internet. These instructions also assume a basic working knowledge of using Windows 95 (using menus, icons, etc.)
For instructions on connecting your Windows 95 / 98 / NT PC to MartNet, Click Here. For additional help on using Windows 95 or MS Outlook, please refer to the documentation that came with your software.

    To get started....

  1. Launch Outlook Express normally.
  2. On the menu bar, select Tools, then select Accounts.
  3. Select ADD, then select Mail.

  4. Enter Your Real Name In the Block. Click Next.

  5. Enter Your email address. It will be your username@martnet.com. (Chosen by you when you first signed up for your MartNet account.) If you have a Virtual Hosting account, Your email address will be username@YOURDOMAIN.COM Click next.

  6. Ensure that the Server type selected is POP3. Next set the incoming Mail server to be mail.martnet.com Outgoing Mail server should also be mail.martnet.com If you are a Virtual Hosting customer, set the incoming Mail server to be postoffice.YOURDOMAIN.com Outgoing Mail server should also be postoffice.YOURDOMAIN.com Click Next.

  7. Now, make sure the Log on using option is checked... Now enter your password to login in the password line. Click next.

  8. Enter an account name. This name is for identification purposes only, and can be chosen by you. It should be something simple for you to recognize (like "MartNet Mail"). Click next.

    That's all there is to it! You should now be able to check and send mail using MS Outlook!
