Alternatives to AOL
Links to some great applications to replace AOL.

Tired of AOL? Many users long for the days of trouble free internet access, but don't want to lose the features that are integrated with the AOL software. The good news is that everything AOL provides is free on the internet, and most are integrated directly into the software that's running your computer. With both Windows 98/XP, and Mac OS X, tools have been pre-installed that can do just about anything that AOL does.

Windows 98/XP

Browsers

AOL provides its own Internet browser, one that is removed when the AOL software in uninstalled. The browsers listed below might already be installed on your computer, but we recommend you check to make sure that you have the most recent version.

Netscape (windows 98 or higher)

Chat Programs

Instant messenger is one of the primary reasons people stick with AOL. However, even AOL supplies a program that allows you to message people, even other AOL users. You'll also find that there are other chat programs out there, with even more features than AOL offers.
