Transfering the REGISTAR of your domain to Martnet / OpenSRS
Escaping the expensive clutches of Network Solutions Transferring your Domain to Martnet's Registration ServiceMartnet uses the registration service, OpenSRS, to register and manage domains. With this service, we can register and renew domains, as well as modify contact information and DNS numbers (ie which host the domain is pointed to). We find this system to be much easier to handle for changing information at a customers request. Once with OpenSRS, a simple e-mail can get your information changed as opposed to filling out multiple forms with other registars, and waiting for something to get done. Step One: If the contact email address is wrong or out of date, please contact the company you originally purchased the domain from. This address needs to be a current email address that you have access to. Once you've verified that your current registar has your current email address
and contact info, you can now tell us to start the transfer process. Step Two: If you're a current MartNet customer, this step is simple: send e-mail to support@martnet.com and tell us your name and the domain you wish to transfer. Verify the spelling on the domain. Then proceed to Step Three, which involves verifying the transfer with both OpenSRS and probably your old registar as well (Network Solutions, etc). If you're opening a new hosting account with Martnet, then we'll need some additional information to set up your account and the transfer:
Step Three: The Email from OpenSRS will look something like this: Subject: Transfer Request for YOURDOMAIN.com A request has been received to transfer the domain YOURDOMAIN.com to MartNet Communications, an authorized reseller of the registrar Tucows. . This acknowledgement of transfer will be processed by Tucows Inc, an ICANN accredited registrar on behalf of MartNet Communications. If this is a valid request and you wish to approve this transfer, please visit the following url and follow the instructions: https://rr-n1-tor.opensrs.net/transfers/index.cgi?rid=XXX You will need to enter the following information to complete the transfer: Domain Name: YOURDOMAIN.com Password: PASSWORD If you do not wish to approve this transfer, you may simply ignore this message If you are transferring a domain that was originally register with Network Solutions, they may also send you an email with a link to a webpage that you must visit to confirm that you approve the transfer to Open SRS. Please follow the instructions on this page to finalize the transfer process. Below is a screenshot of what this webpage will look like: Click on the "confirm" button, and read the VeriSign Service Agreement. Once you've read their agreement, check the box, and click the "submit" button.
You will then be sent to a page similiar to this one: You will shortly receive an email from VeriSign confirming the process. Below is a copy of what this message will look like.
Dear Domain Owner: This is to inform you that the Registrar Transfer Request has been
Step Four: Email us at support@martnet.com and let us know when the transfer has gone through. We'll then make sure everything is set up correctly on our servers. Bear in mind, once this process is completed it may take up to 24 hours for the rest of the internet to recognize the changes. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Home | Services | Support | Members | Software | Contact ![]() |
